Big Chief Mkuja

Big Chief Mkuja is a band hailing from the South West of England, Bath area. They formed in 2001 initially to record an album of original material. Their music is of the alternative genre.
Their first release was Twelve Braves in 2002 on Celadore Records with the line-up of Clive Thomas on drums and vocals (previously drummer in The Room), Fred Reynolds on bass and vocals (previously bass player and founder member of the Akrylykz, bass player with Kissing the Pink, Roland Gift's Fine Young Cannibals).Fred Reynolds played bass on Desmond Dekkers' Album Black And Dekker , Kent Godwin guitars, keyboards,programming (Subtle Bodies, Bone Idol, Bradford Road Blues Band, Squashy Mangoes, Nestones), Harry Godwin guitar (Baby Jesus Foetus Eaters, Axe Attack) and Mike Ware drums (Subtle Bodies).
The line up changed in 2012 for their second album release, Iceberg. Kent Godwin on guitar, Mike Ware on drums and percussion, Miss Demeanour on vocals. New members are Martin Cook bass,and Jon Llewellyn guitar. Videos for the band are created by Jack Godwin (animator).
Two tracks from Iceberg, Mermaid and Train Song, have been played on 6 Music’s Stuart Maconie’s Freak Zone. Celdaore Records has just released a remix of the first Album Twelve Braves Nov 2013.Their most recent live performance was at Brystock 2013 The band is rehearsing and working on a new album due for release late 2014.
