Shadow Circus

Shadow Circus is a progressive rock band from New York City. The band was founded in 2006 by composer John Fontana, vocalist David Bobick, and drummer Corey Folta, who had previously worked with John in alternative rock band Persona Grata during the early 90's. The band's sound is reflective of 70's-era progressive rock acts such as Emerson, Lake and Palmer, Yes, Queen, and Jethro Tull, yet also maintains a very modern sound with heavier guitar sounds and radio-friendly melodies.

Originally, John Fontana played all of the guitars, keyboards, and bass, believing that it would remain a studio-based project. While rehearsing to record the album, it was realized that there was the potential of becoming a live band, so they recruited bass guitarist and cellist Mat Masek, and 13 year old keytar prodigy Zach Tenorio-Miller of The Paul Green School of Rock Music All-Stars, who had, by the age of 12, already toured with progressive rock giants such as John Wetton, Tony Levin, and Mike Keneally, among others. In 2007, Zach completed a U.S. tour with Jon Anderson performing the music of Yes.

This lineup of Shadow Circus recorded and independently released their first album, "Welcome to the Freakroom", in February 2007. The album was remixed and remastered in June 2007 when it was re-released following the band's signing to ProgRock Records. The band has since earned a reputation for theatrical live performances, which are usually based on a dark circus or carnival theme.
