Bhandar Ledo Gadi also known as Bhandarkunda Ledo was a zamindari estate owned by Baghochhia Clan of Bhumihar Brahmins. The estate was located in Hazaribagh District neighbouring Burhai estate of Santha Pargana District at the time of Permanent Settlement. The estate lies in present day Giridih District after it was carved out from Hazaribagh. They used the title Babu Sri Rai. History Of their forefathers, Mayyur Bhat is believed to have come from western India to study Sanskrit and astrology at Varanasi, well before the Christian era. Impressed by his talent, the king of Srawasty married his daughter to him. Initially, Mayyur settled in Azamgargh before moving to Gorakhpur from where he established himself in Saran in Bihar. Among his ancestors, Kalyan Mal was an illustrious king and a contemporary of Akbar. The latter decorated him with the title of Maharaja Bahadur, which Jahangir reconfirmed with an additional title of “Shahi”, on the 87th raja, Kshemkaran. Kalyan Mal founded his capital at Kalyanpur (named after him) near Gopalganj, which was later on shifted to Huseypur. They are decedents of the Maharaja Bahadur of Huseypur estate more popularly known as Hathwa Raj. They also share a common ancestry with Tamkuhi Raj. So their history is same as that of Hathwa Raj and Tamkuhi Raj before they established Bhandarkunda estate in late nineteenth century. Babu Sri Tula Ram Rai Babu Sri Tula Ram Rai was a Zamindar and a Banker. He was influential not only in his zamindari estate but also in neighbouring Santhal Pargana District. He along with Ananda Rai also owned large estates in Deoghar District. During the [ all the lands in Deoghar District was registered under their name.
