Elizabeth "Beth" Winslet (born May 1978) is an English actress. She was born in Reading, Berkshire, and is the younger sister of Anna Winslet and Kate Winslet. Early life Born in Reading, Berkshire, Winslet is the third of four children born to Sally Anne (née Bridges), a barmaid, and Roger John Winslet, a swimming pool contractor. Her parents were "jobbing actors". Her maternal grandparents, Linda (née Plumb) and Oliver Bridges, founded and operated the Reading Repertory Theatre, Beth was a member of the National Youth Theatre with Charlotte Reather. They are still friends and perform regularly together as part of the Gum! Gum! sketch troupe along with Marc Elliot and Jon Olney. She also attended Meadway Secondary School in Tilehurst, Reading until 1997. Career She made her TV debut at 19 in the BBC Television drama The Scold's Bridle, playing a drug addict's daughter opposite Miranda Richardson. and, along with her older sister Anna, refuses scripts sent by Kate, preferring to progress on the basis of her own talent.
