Bernie Morelli

Bernie Morelli (June 8, 1943 - January 14, 2014) was a city councillor in Hamilton, Ontario. He represented Ward Three on council from 1991 until his death in 2014.
The boundaries of Ward Three are Hamilton Harbour, Ottawa Street, Escarpment (from Ottawa to Wentworth) / Main Street East (from Wentworth to Wellington) and Wellington Street (Harbour to Main Street East) / Wentworth Street South (from Main Street East to the Escarpment).
Prior to serving on city council, Morelli was the senior manager of market and product development at Dofasco and was a lecturer at McMaster University. Morelli first entered public service in 1988 when he was elected as the Ward Three trustee at the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board. Morelli was then elected to city council in 1991 and was subsequently re-elected to council in 1994, 1997, 2000, 2003 and 2006.
Morelli was the past chair of the Hamilton Police Service Board and remained a member of the board until his death. He was also the past president of the Ontario Association of Police Services Boards. He sat on several advisory committees such as the Veterans Committee, Seniors Advisory Committee, Advisory Committee for Persons with Disabilities. Morelli also served as city council's representative to the International Children's Games.
He died January 14, 2014, after a long illness.
