Benjamin lawless

Benjamin Lawless (born September 14, 1984) is a United States Marine who is a candidate for the third district of Maryland in the United States House of Representatives. The district includes the state capital of Annapolis, central portions of the city of Baltimore, and parts of Anne Arundel, Howard and Baltimore counties.
Early Life and Career

Benjamin Lawless is an American Indian and a registered member of the Monacan Indian Nation in Amherst, Virginia. He is the youngest of two children of Stephen Brian Lawless, a truck driver and Julie Ann Lawless, a homemaker. He was born in Baltimore, was home schooled and received a G.E.D. in 2001. A member of the Boy Scouts of America, he obtained scouting's highest honor, that of Eagle Scout in 2001. He is still an active scouter and is an Assistant Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 474 in Glen Burnie, Maryland.. He enlisted into the United States Marine Corps in 2003 and graduated from Parris Island Recruit Depot in 2004.
He served as an Aviation Ordnance Systems Technician until 2007, being deployed to Al Taqaddum, Iraq in 2005, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He served as a Military Policeman from 2007 to 2008 before becoming a recruiter in Columbia, Maryland. With his term ending in 2010, he announced his intention to serve as a politician, challenging incumbent Congressman John Sarbanes in the November 2010 election.

Lawless lives in Nottingham, Maryland with his three children and wife Kristine, who he met in Elkridge, Maryland and wed in 2002.
Politics

Lawless seeks the Republican nomination for Maryland's third congressional district. As of January, 2010 he is unopposed. The Maryland Primary Election will be held on September 14, 2010.
