Ben Midland

Ben Midland is a Dutch writer of thriller fiction (pseudonym of J.F.M. van Weelde, 8 Sept. 1954) who is best known for the novel The Sacred Mirror in 2015. Midland's novels are fact based adventures set in a 24-hour period, and feature the recurring themes of mythology, religion, folklore, symbols and conspiracy theories. His books have been translated into 2 languages. The title of the book The Sacred Mirror refers to Yata no Kagami a sacred mirror kept in a Shinto Shrine Ise-Jingu in the Mie prefecture in South-east Japan.
Biography
After a bachelor study Japanese Studies between 1982 and 1984 Midland lived in Japan and the Philippines to work as an assistant teacher and entrepreneur. Returning to the Netherlands in 1998 he started his career in the IT as UNIX and LINUX system engineer. In 2005 Midland continued his studies by concentrating on Japanese religion, mythology and folklore.
