Eric van den Ing worked as a grammar school teacher for more than 30 years, after graduating at Nijmegen University (Master of Arts, English language and literature) in 1973. Around the same time that he started his professional career he started collected Japanese prints, first prints from all periods, later focusing on prints from the Meiji period. It was in this period that he collaborated with Robert Schaap on the Yoshitoshi exhibition and publication “Beauty and Violence” . In 1999 he seized the opportunity of starting as a dealer of Japanese prints and paintings , and in 2004 he started doing this full-time. Apart from editing the book “Paul Binnie, A Dialogue with the Past” in 2007 , he has written a number of articles for Andon . As a dealer he has now specialized in Sôsaku Hanga.
