It is the basis for a series of science fiction books by Ted Butler written primarily for teens. The Belt Republic starts in 2176 and features 16 year old Gil Klanz as its hero. It starts with a memorable prank involving 600 lbs of dessert gelatin and the only swimming pool in the fictional asteroid belt. The tales proceed with something similar to the Amreican Revolution in 1776 The books in the Belt Republic series are :1) "2176: the Birth of the Belt Republic" 2) "Menace Beyond the Moon" 3) "Secret Fleets" 4) "Royal Threat" and 5) "Pandora Project" |
