Mohammed Baraa Kadek ( ? - 31 May 2017), also known as Rayan Meshaal, was a Syrian journalist and the founder of the Halab News Network and the Amaq News Agency. History Kadek was born in al-Bab, Syria. At the outset of the Syrian Civil War he was a pro-Syrian opposition activist and journalist. He founded the Halab News Network based in Aleppo, Syria. In late 2013 he joined the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL OR ISIS). In 2014 he and seven other Syrians who had been part of Halab News created the Amaq News Agency. Death An airstrike in Mayadin, Syria, suspected of having been carried out by the U.S.-led coalition wounded Kadek, as well as his wife and daughter, on 26 May 2017. Kadek died of his wounds on 31 May. According to some reports, his daughter also died.
