Babylon Fire

Babylon Fire is a British heavy metal band from Manchester, England. The band was formed in late 2007 and founded by bassist Ryk Swillo and lead guitarist Rishi Mehta, who, for several years, had previously played in several other bands, along with drummer Mark Cooper. They took the unanimous decision to leave their previous band, due to internal unrest and lack of creative control. Soon after, the trio formed Babylon Fire - enlisting along the way Rishi’s old friend and guitar mentor Will Reece on lead guitar and Shaun Luck on lead vocals. When Shaun left the band shortly after to go to university in London, the hunt was on again for another frontman. After advertising the position and auditioning several applicants, the band found Mark D and the current line-up was born.

The philosophy of the band is to write powerful, heavy and dynamic metal songs, with a particular emphasis on melody. After writing several original songs and adding a few metal and rock covers to reflect their influences - such as Metallica, Iron Maiden, and Slipknot - the band performed their first gigs in spring 2008.
Their energetic performances and blistering onstage chemistry proved to be an immediate hit live. This led to them competing against and beating dozens of bands to win Battle of the Bands 2008 at Whittles in Oldham, a high profile rock venue in the north-west of the UK.
In May 2009, the band entered the studio to make their recording debut, a four track E.P. produced by Andy Giblin entitled ‘The Day the Angels Died’. This was well received by both those in the business and fans alike, with Bruce Dickinson proclaiming on his BBC 6 radio show, ‘Very good stuff! Lots of riffing, good guitar work and even some melody! This EP bodes well for their future, check it out!’.
The band has since continued to tour the UK, and have played with many prominent bands such as Orange Goblin, Panic Cell, Heaven’s Basement, Blaze Bayley and Fury UK.
The band have planned a UK tour for autumn 2010, which includes four dates supporting Fury UK. On Saturday 29 October 2010, they will support Breed 77 at the Mosh For Dosh charity event at the Victoria Hall in Hanley, Stoke-On-Trent.
