Telacasters is an American band from Los Angeles, California, formed in 2007. Biography The two sets of brothers that comprise Telacasters officially came together in 2007. But for Tim and Dash Hutton and Kevin, Jesse and Justin Bivona, their musical histories began much earlier - as kids - pretty much picking up the family trade. The Hutton brothers grew up in a house nestled in the legendary Laurel Canyon that incubated much of LA’s seminal music scene of the late 60’s/early 70’s. As kids they spent summers traveling around the country in the family RV - on tour with their father Danny Hutton, co-founder and a lead vocalist in Three Dog Night. Both Huttons began playing and writing music from a very young age - writing songs with Brian Wilson when they were pre-schoolers. They started playing gigs at all-ages clubs around Los Angeles in middle school. In 2004, Dash formed the band Wires on Fire with Jeff Lynn, Michael Shuman and Evan Weiss. This line up of Wires on Fire released a self titled LP on Buddyhead Records. Around the same time, Tim played bass for Peter Walker, co-owner of Dangerbird Records, as a hired musician. That eventually led to the formation of The Eulogies. Tim continued to play with The Eulogies until early 2009, playing on three records and embarking on several national tours. One of those tours was with fellow Dangerbird act La Rocca, and on that tour, Dash played drums in La Rocca. When Tim and Dash had started going to Hamilton High School Academy of Music they had been spending a lot of time in the studio at their house recording their own songs. That was when they connected with Kevin Bivona - a fellow Hamilton student, musician and engineer - hiring him to record their latest project. Kevin also came by his chops naturally, growing up in a musical family as well. He is a multi-instrumentalist who, immediately after high school, hit the road with Tim Armstrong and Travis Barker as a keyboard player in The Transplants. Kevin joined with Tim and Dash as they performed under the moniker the Hutton Brothers. It was the later addition of Kevin’s younger brothers, twins Jesse and Justin Bivona that eventually lead to forming Telacasters in 2008. The name came from their love for the artists that played the famed Fender guitar - Steve Cropper (Booker T & The MG’s) Catfish Collins (James Brown) Joe Strummer (The Clash) and Andy Summers (The Police). The band decided to use the ‘Te-LA-casters’ spelling in a clever nod to its home town of Los Angeles. Now with Tim on bass and lead vocals, Dash playing drums and also singing leads, Kevin handling lead guitar and background vocals, Jesse on rhythm guitar and Justin playing keyboards, Telacasters have begun to beam their high energy show to a wider audience. In the summer of 2009, the band toured with Sugar Ray, The Dirty Heads and Aimee Allen. On October 12, 2009, Telacasters opened for blink182 and The Aquabats at the Santa Barbara Bowl. The Santa Barbara Press said Telacasters "served up a more vintage variation of punk, with a vim and randy humor reminiscent of the Ramones."
