Muhammad Akhyar Farrukh

Dr. Prof. Muhammad Akhyar Farrukh or M. Akhyar Farrukh is a Pakistani chemistry researcher, research scientist and an academic professor. He is considered one of the youngest and top chemist in his country. He made significant and extraordinary efforts in the field of kinetic chemistry and physical chemistry. His research paper has gained international praise and honors throughout the world. He has represented in Pakistan in first UNESCO-affiliated World Association of Young Scientists (WAYS) in 2004. He was the only Pakistani among the 10 candidates from all the developing countries for the said fellowship award<ref name="gcu-pk.academia.edu"/><ref name="ways.org"/>.
Academic Career in Pakistan
He has worked for the University of Karachi from August 2000 to January 2004, Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research from January 2004 to October 2005, Pakistan Council for Science and Technology from October 2005 to June 2008 and presently working in Government College University Lahore as an assistant professor.
Honours and Awards
* Awarded Postdoctoral Fellowship by TWAS (the Academy of Sciences for the developing World) and USM, Malaysia, 2009-2010 in Malaysia.
*Nominated by World Association of Young Scientists (WAYS) as a Delegate of WAYS to participate in “World Science Forum”, 08-10 November 2007 in Budapest, Hungary.
*Awarded Young Chemist Award by International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC), USA, at 41st IUPAC World Chemistry Congress: 5-11 August 2007, Torino, Italy.
*Awarded Postdoctoral Fellowship by TWAS (the Academy of Sciences for the developing World) in 2006-2007 in Brazil. A single Pakistani out of 10 candidates awarded through out the developing countries.
*Selected as “Productive Scientists of Pakistan”, name included in the same book published by Pakistan Council for Science and Technology, Government of Pakistan, 2005 and 2007.
*Participated as Representative of Pakistan to 1st WAYS (World Academy of Young Scientists) General Assembly, 11-13 December 2004 at Marrakech, Morocco, Sponsored by UNESCO and WAYS.
*Awarded Cambridge Commonwealth Trust Scholarship by Malaysian Commonwealth Trust for the University of Cambridge, England, 2000.
*Awarded Gold Medal for First Class First Position in the Entire Faculty of Science at the M.Sc examinations of University of Karachi, 26 February 2000.
