The term baby genital mutilation (also referred to as genital mutilation of children genital mutilation of infants or genital mutilation of minors ) describes genital mutilation when it is done to babies. It is a form of female genital mutilation when the baby is female, and a form of male genital mutilation when the baby is male. It is a special concern in society because babies can not give informed consent to various surgeries inflicted on them. Incidents have occurred where parents have flown from countries where it is illegal (like Australia) to countries where it is legal (like Bali) however much like child sex tourism, the authorities have cracked down on adults who go outside their nation's borders to engage in child abuse. |
