Sheikh Mahmud Suleiman

Sheikh Mahmud Suleiman Said was born in Kibra in 1930. Until his death he has been undisputedly the most influential Nubian in Kenya. He is overwhelmingly referred to as the Grand Sheikh of Madarastul Falaah - Kibra and Jamia Masjid Kibra. His character has drawn allies and friends among those with reason and enmity directed to him by the corrupt and prejudiced. He died December 12, 2011.

Career
After his studies in Zanzibar Sheikh Mahmud returned to Kibra to take the reins of Imamate in Jamia Masjid Kibra as the Imam and also taught at Madrasatul Falaah Kibra with notable teachers as the Late Maalim Ibrahim Doka, Maalim Muhammad Kapsun (the father of Sheikh Suleiman Muhammad), Sheikh Ismail Muhammad Ibrahim (the Registrar of Islamic Marriages (Kadhi) in Kibra and current Imam - jamia Masjid Kibra) and also alongside scholars from Saudi Arabia and Al Azhar; among them Sheikh Adam, Sheikh Ibrahim, Sheikh Ahmad, Sheikh Bakr Muhammad Galmoul (Azhar), Sheikh Muhammad Al Batal (Azhar).
