Audric Ping

Ping Wei Xiang Audric is a Singaporean national Karateka. In 2013, Ping won the Singapore International Open title in the men's kumite 75kg and below. He also won the inaugural National Young Leader Award for his community and volunteering work in 2013.
Personal life
Ping went to St. Gabriel's Secondary School and Institute of Technical Education (ITE) College Central. He is currently a student at the Singapore Polytechnic studying electrical and electronics engineering.<ref name=ref1 />
In 2009, he lost two pillars of support - his mother Linda Foo to breast cancer and his paternal grandmother to stroke, which affected his studies. Due to his poor N-Level results, he ended in ITE. A talk with his ITE lecturer gave him the strength and inspiration to pick himself up. He did well in his studies and won numerous school awards.
In 2013, he was awarded the Halogen Foundation Singapore's inaugural National Young Leader Award for his community and volunteering work. The award honours exceptional young leaders who contributes actively to the community.
Career
Ping picked up karate at nine-year-old from his coach and mentor David Thong who is the husband of his mother's friend. During his time in ITE, he decided to take the sport more seriously. Besides winning gold medals for the school team, he also became a member of the national karate team.<ref name=ref1 />
In 2013, he won the Singapore International Open title in the men's kumite 75kg and below.
He hopes to represent and win a medal for Singapore at the 2017 SEA Games to be held in Kuala Lumpur, competing in the men's kumite 67kg and below.
