Association of Carbon Professionals

The Association of Carbon Professionals (ACP) is a professional body that supports and develops a community of professionals with the aim of facilitating the transition to a low-carbon economy.
The carbon professionals that it is aimed at are: carbon managers, carbon traders and analysts, energy managers, facilities managers, climate change policy makers, carbon management students and academic or professional researchers. They work on reducing carbon emissions either directly, or indirectly through offsets and energy and carbon markets.
ACP is also raising awareness of and supporting the establishment of recognised professional accreditation programmes for GHG measurement and verification.
Formation of ACP
Founded in 2011, The Association of Carbon Professionals (ACP) is Europe's first professional organisation targeted at carbon practitioners. ACP has spun out from The University of Edinburgh and is driven by its current interim board of directors, who are academics and alumni of Edinburgh University’s master's degrees in Carbon Management and Carbon Finance.

The members of the interim board of directors are; Dr. Andy Kerr (Director, Edinburgh Centre for Carbon Innovation), Francisco Ascui (Programme Director, MSc Carbon Finance - Edinburgh University) and Kevin Houston (Director, Carbon Masters).
Events
Carbon Clinics
ACP is currently running a series of Carbon Clinics, which are an opportunity to draw together people working to reduce emissions and to provide an informal setting for them to talk about relevant topics, network and exchange solutions for their problems.
The first Carbon Clinic hosted by the ACP was based around the Carbon Reduction Commitment Energy Efficiency Scheme and the new Carbon Masters analysis report of the recently published Performance League Table. Speakers included Carbon Masters, ENDS Carbon and Fife Council.
ACP Official Launch
The Association of Carbon Professionals is to be launched on Thursday, 17 May 2012 at the prestigious Lothian Chambers, on the Royal Mile in the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town.

This evening event will provide an excellent opportunity to network with a wide range of like-minded professionals plus an exhibition showcase of ACP’s Corporate Members. A range of investors, academics, entrepreneurs, students and other professionals will be in attendance to mark the beginning of an exciting new professional association that is working on the transition to the low carbon economy.
