Asif Azerelli

Asif Azerelli (Rzayev Asif Husyn Oglu) was born on July 19, 1946 in the village Ugurbeyli of the city Barda, the Garabagh district of Azerbaijan. Actually his parents arrived here from the prophet Noah’s native land-Nakhchivan after the occupation of Azerbaijan by Russian Bolsheviks in 1920.
Asif passed exams successfully and entered the famous Azimzade Art School in Baku 1964 and he finished it in 1970. And year after, in 1971, he achieved his first serious success in the field of art and became the winner of the contest of Azerbaijan Republic. To get higher education was Asif’s main dream at that time. But it wasn’t as easy as he had thought. Oddly enough, he could not enter to University of Art at several attempts, the university where he would teach and would receive degree of senior lecturer later. Though his failure impressed him greatly he didn’t concede and went to Georgia-Tbilisi to improve his paiting skills. In spite of excellent passing of entrance examination at Tbilisi Art Academy, The low level of his knowledge of Russian might cross out all his diligence, if the rector of the academy, Georgy Gotibadze hadn’t interfered…
The artist’s works that has successfully been participating in the international and local exhibitions since 1971, now are stored in museums, galleries of Azerbaijan and foreign countries and private collections as well.
