Miriam Fletcher is the professional name of Miriam Suzy Fletcher viuda de García, a journalist, and radio, cinema and television producer. Fletcher was born in Santiago, Chile on November 9, 1934, and has resided for much of her life in Venezuela. She is the mother of Cat Fletcher. Professional Work Fletcher graduated with a degree in journalism from the Central University of Venezuela (UCV) in 1958. She began working in communications in Corpa Publicity, as secretary to Carlos Eduardo Frías (1957-1961). *Founder member, with Ariel Severino, of the theater group “the New Group” of Alberto de Paz and Mateos, 1958. *Wrote a column titled "El Mundo Que Yo Veo" ("The World As I See It") for the (El Mundo daily newspaper of Miguel Ángel Capriles Ayala) between 1961 and 1991. With its daily description of the people and events of the time, as well its insightful views that became a symbol of that period, she is considered to be one of the icons of the 1960s in Venezuela. *Presenter of the TV program “ We, The Women ” (1961-1963) atRCTV as well as of production assistant for several programs of the same network such as “Renny's Show” and “Renny Presents”. *Associate Producer for the film “the Epic of Bolivar” (1969) *Vice President in charge of the area of public relations of FUNDAPOL (Foundation for the social attendance of Metropolitan Police of Caracas) (1976-1978) when Renny Ottolina was president of that institution. *Producer of cultural programs for Radio Suave (1977-1984). *Public Relations and Publicity Director of Teresa Carreño Theater (1985-2000) *Public Relations and Publicity Director of Children's and Youth Orchestras of Venezuela (a UNESCO program branch) and the Orquesta Sinfónica Simón Bolívar assisting José Antonio Abreu. (2000-2004) She is now retired and lives at Margarita Island.
