Ashok Sundari

Ashok Sundari or Ashoksundari is a Hindu goddess and the only daughter of Shiva and Parvati. It is said that when Shiva went to destroy the Tripura which promoted iniquity and Parvati's son, Kartikeya went to kill the demon Tripath in south she was left alone. She wandered around Kailash sadly. So Sage Dadhichi along with other sages advised her to make a doll out of mud and then ask Kalpavriksha, the wish fulfulling divine tree, to breathe life into it. Dadhichi also mentioned in his humble request to Parvati about the purpose of Ashok Sundari's life to spread the light of knowledge and awareness amongst the earthlings. Parvati did the same and this way Ashok Sundari was born. Akshok Sundari would listen to tales of lord Vishnu and other Gods and Godesses from her father Mahadev. She had witnessed the event of churning of sea milk Samudra manthan and Mahadev eventually being called Nilkanth. As told by her mother, Ashok Sundari's husband's name is Naahush who later killed the demon who had once kidnapped Akshok Sundari.
Years after her birth, when she met her brother Kartikeya for the first time she got inspired by her brother Kartikeya and she too started meditation which disturbs Parvati.
Name
Ashok Sundari's name can be split into two parts - Ashok meaning "without sorrow" and Sundari meaning "beautiful girl".
She was named by Parvati as Ashok Sundari as she created Ashok Sundari to get rid of her sorrow of missing Lord Shiva.
