Serena Killingsworth

Serena Killingsworth is a fictional character in the Daughters of the Moon book series, which was created by author Lynne Ewing. She stars in the books Into the Cold Fire and Possession.
Early Life
Serena was born in Long Beach, California in 1985. She was given a moon amulet the day she was born which symbolized that she was a Daughter of the Moon. She is the younger sister of Collin. As she became older, her gift of telepathy got her in trouble as she would sometimes answer people's thoughts. When she was 5, her mother left her and her brother. At the age of 15, her father moved his family to Los Angeles. Her father is a lawyer.
Life as a Daughter

Ever since she was 5, Serena dreamed about a woman named Maggie. She eventually met Maggie when she was 14. There she met Jimena Castillo, another Daughter, who had no interest in being her friend at first until the fought together for the first time. A year later, they both met Catty Turner and Vanessa Cleveland, two other Daughters. Tianna came in her life later. She is the only Daughter chosen to go into the cold fire and become immortal by the Atrox. In the third book, Jimena told Serena's brother the truth about who they are, which drew Serena and her brother closer. + Ever since she was 5, Serena dreamed about a woman named Maggie. Serena fell in love with a Follower and later Prince of Night named Stanton. Their relationship was off and on throughout her life as a Daughter until she made her choice. She is known among the Followers as the key. She is the only goddess that can alter the balance between good and evil.
In Possession, her brother gives her a second necklace that he had gotten unknowingly from Hekate. Serena realizes that it is Hekate's orb which shows that she has both the forces of Selene and Hekate inside her. She then has enough power to save Stanton from a group of Followers who are trying to over throw the Atrox. She also discovers that unlike the other Daughters, she has a third choice. She can become a goddess of the dark.
In Final Eclipse, she tried to escape Nefandus with Vanessa but was captured and held hostage. Vanessa and Stanton come to her aid and Stanton tells her to close the portals. She succeeds. She helps Vanessa return to the Earth's realm but stays behind in Nefandus with Stanton to bring light into the realm. She chooses to become a goddess of the dark.
Characterization

Physical Appearance

Serena has been described as having long, dark brown curly hair, which had red tips in the beginning of the series, and green eyes. She has tanned skin from all her time surfing with her brother. She has been described by Vanessa as looking like a fairy from another world and by Stanton as very beautiful. She has a nose, belly button, and tongue piercing.

Personality traits; interests

Serena is described as having a unique sense of fashion that is very colorful. She sometimes makes her own clothes. She also loves to cook. She was taking college classes along with her high school classes and enjoyed playing the cello. She had dreams of becoming a great musician. She is also very caring, stubborn, and a strong fighter. Before she made her choice, she used to read tarot cards for $20 per reading and would sometimes glimpse future warnings when she read for the other Daughters. She also has a pet raccoon named Wally.
Powers

Her gift was telepathy. She could see people's deepest secrets and thoughts. Her power eventually progressed where she could erase memories and even control people's emotions and once she even put security guards to sleep.

She can also open and close the portals between the earth's realm and Nefandus.
