Arekti Jiboner Golpo is a 2013 Bengali film that was directed by Priyadarshi Banerjee. The film stars Tista Das as Hiya, a transgender woman that undergoes several difficulties in her life. Plot "STORY OF ANOTHER LIFE", contains an unusual climax where the deliberately retained suspense,later unfolded, is a representation of suppressed human rights. Our protagonist Hiya took a decision in her early life to establish her wished identity, but when she revealed it to her admirer,Anirban, he took it as an unacceptable reality.It was like a tight slap on his face. What might be her decision that left him agap..its a widely different one from traditional romantic movies.. Her decision was bold,painful yet it was her own, entirely dedicated to herself and her choice..She was born as a male child(physically)and psychologically a female and in youth she went through with the process of sex reassignment surgery to match her physic with her psychic.. Cast * Tista Das as Hiya, protagonist of the story * Siddhartt Roy Choudhury as Anirban,admirer of Hiya * Somjita as Neeta * Prasanta Ghoshal * Bijoya Mallic * Hasi Bhadra Production Development It is a Bengali short film based on a story of a transsexual girl and mainly her post-operative life.Not only for a different and conventionally neglected theme but also for a different kind of production and development,makes the movie more and more remarkable.In maximum short film we find the director has also played the role of main initiator but here,in this movie this back up story is slightly different.Avinandan Bhadra/Jagriti is the writer,producer and the main initiator of the movie.She decided to make the film in her college life and appointed Priyadarshi Banerjee to direct the film based on her story.About this matter she said,"Priyadarshi was my college life pal and a film direction student also,so when I became finally able to collect the fund,I went to him.This was not just a movie for me.I wanted to stand beside these kind of peoples.I found a creed about sex among our country men and I think this is the main cause for what,a different kind of sexual orientation makes a people alone alone and alone...."In personal life Jariti,herself is also a sufferer of "Gender identity disorder",So there is a controversy that the movie may be an autobiography of Jagriti but she did not make any comment properly. Casting A source close to the Arekti Jiboner Golpo unit revealed that because of a controversial plot and a very low budget,director Priyadarshi faced a huge problem in casting.Priyadarshi said,"To find the main protagonist Hiya(a trans girl),we had to face a lot of troubles.Normal traditional Bengali girls were not suitable for this role and we also did'nt have enough fund to appoint any model with a bold appearance,at this moment we met with Tista(first post operative transsexual girl of kolkata),actually she was Jagriti's childhood friend.After listning the whole fact she decieded to play the character without any remuneration.Not only Tista di but also Siddhartt,Pallavi and other maximum characters played their roles without or with a very little remuneration.I think to some extent we all became attached with jagriti's precious emotion" Shooting spot "Our main funds were emotion,sympathy and love",said Jagriti.Maximum shoot was planed indoor but still they did not have that much money also.Jagriti's aunt and Priyadarshi's friend voluntarily gave their home for shooting purpose,A restaurant named "Dona" also allowed to shoot in their place voluntarily.
