Apricity OS

Apricity OS is a simple rolling release Arch Linux based operating system that uses a customized GNOME 3 desktop environment. As an Arch Linux distribution, Apricity OS follows a rolling release cycle. Apricity OS intends to be useful for both new and experienced Linux users. Some of its notable features include the ICE SSB manager, Pushbullet, Syncthing, Sbackup, TLP, and the Pamac updater.
History
Apricity was first envisioned by the Apricity OS Team in 2013 as a fast, openSUSE based operating system following a rolling release cycle. It quickly migrated from openSUSE to Arch Linux because of the Arch User Repository (AUR) and newer versions of packages. The Apricity OS Team consists of several Chicago-based developers and Linux enthusiasts. The first release of Apricity OS, Apricity OS 07.2015 Beta, was released in late July 2015. Later, the August Beta brought a new installer, the September Beta updated several core packages and fixed multiple underlying bugs, the October Beta updated the operating system to GNOME 3.18, the November Beta primarily fixed bugs, and the December Beta added a Vim installation.
Notable Features
ICE
Apricity OS comes with ICE, a simple SSB (Site Specific Browser) manager that originally appeared on Peppermint OS. These specialized browsers let users go directly to the sites that they use most frequently.
Pushbullet
Apricity OS includes Pushbullet, a cross platform service that allows users to send links and small files between devices. It also lets users receive mobile notifications on desktop operating systems and subscribe to several RSS publishers.
Syncthing
Apricity OS comes preinstalled with Syncthing, a small program that allows users to share large amounts data across many platforms. Syncthing can transfer large files even faster than cloud-based alternatives, and puts a strong emphasis on security and ease of use.
SBackup
SBackup is a backup manager that can create both compressed and uncompressed backups, split uncompressed backups into multiple parts, support scheduled backups and manual backups, and back up files to both local and remote destinations. SBackup includes a variety of advanced options such as creating verbose logs and sending email notifications. It is also included in Apricity OS.
Uncomplicated Firewall
Apricity OS comes installed with Uncomplicated Firewall (UFW). UFW was created to be an intuitive firewall that is ready out of the box with default set of rules that serve the needs of the basic computer user. UFW is also very customizable.
Linux Advanced Power Management (TLP)
TLP is a highly customizable power management application that comes with a default configuration optimized for extended battery life. It may be modified for the user's preferences. It is included with Apricity OS installations.
