Andy Robertson

Andy Robertson (born 13 December 1983, Scunthorpe, England) is an English football defender who currently plays for Weston-super-Mare in the Conference South.

Robertson started his career at Southampton as a youth trainee playing in the reserves. However, Robertson could not crack the first team and eventually left on a free transfer in the summer of 2003 to Dr. Martens League Premier Division club Chippenham.

Robertson finished out the season with Chippenham. Frank Gregan, then manager of Weston-super-Mare, saw the potential in the young defender and Robertson joined the Seagulls on a free transfer on 16 July 2004.

In the 2007/2008 season, Robertson briefly served as club captain for the Seagulls. A drop in former captain Craig Loxton's performances saw Loxton lose the armband, which Tony Ricketts then gave to Robertson. However, upon the signing of Andy Gurney to the club, Robertson relinquished the armband to the veteran defender. His performances also saw him gain the club's Player of the Month award for October 2007 which was sponsored by, quite possibly, the greatest overseas supporter of the Seagulls in their history.
