Andre Criswell

Andre Criswell (born March 21, 1986 in Detroit, Michigan) is a Collegiate football player at the University of Michigan. He was recruited by colleges all over the nation and at different positions as well. Andre has the built and athleticism to play tight end, defensive end, fullback (recruited position at U of M) and many schools such as Notre Dame and Boston College recruited him as a stud linebacker. Andre double-majored in Psychology and African American Studies as an undergrad.
Andre hailed from Detroit Renaissance High School, a school famous for their basketball program. Andre was a force on the basketball team as an undersized but highly physical forward for the Phoenix. Andre played for the team all 4 years and won 3 city championships, 1 state championship and a few operation friendship championships as well.
Andre displayed his versatility to play several positions to the 110,000 fans that pack the Michigan Stadium every Saturday. Prior to the retirement of Coach Lloyd Carr's last season as head coach at the University of Michigan, the staff asked Andre to move to Tight End which was a position he played in high school and a position he was recruited to play in college. Andre was a team player and good sport...he agreed to fill the void at the position and he led a great campaign to be the Wolverines starting Tight End for Carr's final season. Andre was really starting to develop as a consistent and punishing fullback at Michigan but for the team's sake he stepped up to the challenge to showcase more athleticism at Tight End. Unfortunately, Andre's campaign was disrupted by an ankle and shoulder injury that would affect his play throughout the rest of his career but he gave the fans a little show versus the Eastern Michigan Eagles as he caught his first pass delivered by Michigan's Chad Henne. The pass was caught and Andre was immediately bombarded by 5 Eagles who finally managed to get him down to the ground after a about 5 seconds of trying. Andre also followed up with catch delivered by David Cone during a big ten play that showcased his ability to move with the ball. He scampered for 21yds.
The following year was new for the team as Rich Rod and the new regime came to Ann Arbor. Andre made the switch to Defensive End and found himself back at home as he felt more comfortable placing fear in the eyes of quarterbacks! Unfortunately, this would be his last year doing so. Andre suffered a career ending shoulder injury that was evident earlier on in his career with shoulder wraps and straps a part of his uniform since 2005 when he first stepped on the maize and blue gridiron. Andre did not allow this injury to get in the way of his passion to be a part of football. He decided to coach for what would have been his last season. Blogs would even suggest that he was going to take over as the defensive line coach after Coach Tall retired. Blogs also mentioned that his name popped up as a participant of the 2010 future coaches academy in Orlando, FL.
Andre is currently in residing in Ann Arbor as a graduate assistant for the football team.
