Amy Mercer-Bailey

Amy C. Mercer-Bailey, (born 13 June 1991) is a British Labour Party activist in Weaver Vale Constituency. She is a member of Northwich Town Council, where she was co-opted in on 6 September 2010.
She is studying theology at Cliff College where she is also the Student President.
Early life
Amy spent most of her early life in the village of Barnton, where she attended Barnton Primary School until later moving up into Hartford High School.
During both secondary school and high school years Amy faced various family problems including domestic abuse and a close family association to drugs and crime. Throughout this time Amy was looked after by various members of her family. Despite this background Amy is widely respected for her integrity throughout difficult circumstances.
Church work and theology
Since her conversion to Christianity in the year 2006, Amy has been proactive in religious life.
She regularly attends church and is a Soldier in the Salvation Army.
From Autumn 2008 to Summer 2009 Amy was posted in Hastings by the Salvation Army as a youth and community worker.
Political activism
Amy joined the Labour Party in June 2009 and became involved in activism during the 2010 General Election. During the ensuing contest for the leadership of the Labour Party, she worked on campaign team
, attending hustings and gathering support for his bid.
In September 2010 Amy was co-opted onto Northwich Town Council to fill a vacant Labour-held seat.
In May 2011 Amy is likely to be standing for election as a county councillor in Cheshire West and Chester.
General interests
Outside of her political and academic life, Amy enjoys reading, walking and rock climbing.
