Brian Grim

Biography
Brian Grim was born October 13, 1979 in Cumberland, Maryland. Brian is currently the Mayor of Cumberland, Maryland. He is the youngest Mayor in Cumberland's history. Brian Grim graduated from Fort Hill High School in Cumberland, Maryland, in 1997. Brian Grim also is a graduate of Allegany College of Maryland in 2000 and a graduate of Frostburg State University in 2002, with a Bachelors Degree and double majors in Political Science and Justice Studies. Brian Grim continued his studies, earning a Master of Arts in Teaching degree.
Political Life
Brian Grim was a 2006 Candidate on the Democratic Party ballot for Maryland House of Delegates running against LeRoy E. Myers, Jr. who in November beat Brian Grim by a narrow margin.
Brian Grim ran for Cumberland City Council against 13 other people for a seat on the City Council in the 2008 Elections Primary, in which Grim won. Then Brian Grim went into the 2008 General Election where he and Mary Beth Pirolozzi won. Grim received the highest number of votes of hte 2008 candidates for Cumberland City Council.
In 2009 rumors began to circulate that Brian Grim would run for Mayor in 2010 for the retiring Mayor Lee Fiedler. There was no Primary Election due to a strict state law mandating four candidates for a Primary election for non-partisan elections. In November 2010, Brian Grim won the Mayoral election in a landslide victory, garnering 70% of the vote, defeating two Republican Party candidates in the non-partisan election.
Community Activism
Brian Grim serves as the Vice Chairman of Western Potomac Chapter of the American Red Cross. He also volunteers at Rocky Gap State Park with the Volunteer Team.
Brian is a member of the Fort Hill High School Scholarship Foundation Board of Directors.
Brian Grim works at Rocky Gap State Park in Flintstone, Maryland as a park ranger. He also serves as a long-term substitute teacher in Allegany County, Maryland public schools, teaching United States History, criminal justice, and contemporary world issues.
