Amvona

Amvona is a photography equipment developer and retailer that provides social-networking and image search services. Amvona designs and manufactures several lines of photography equipment under the trademarks Dynatran, Dynaphos and Civichrome.
History
In 1997 Lemelson began manufacturing muslin backgrounds for local photographers in Seattle, Washington. In December of 1998 Amvona began branching into online sales, primarily through the, relatively new, eBay. In August of 1999 Amvona launched its website Amvona.com. A patent for generating web content was filed in 2005 through its related holding company. In 2005, Amvona became a top 100 seller on eBay. In November 2006, Amvona registered the trademark Amvona 720º and released a line of social networking and media sharing tools. A patent for social networking and e-commerce integration was filed in 2007 through its holding company.
Integration of Social Networking and E-commerce
Amvona's social network was released in 2006. Profiles are used to share photography equipment reviews and upload photos, vlogs, and personal information. Tracks realtime user activity from this application is displayed on Amvona's pages. Amvona holds a patent application for this method through a holding company.
Photosharing and Image Search
Amvona's image search tool, Amvona Trails, was released in 2008. Amvona Trails uses a contextual search of user-submitted meta data and tags. .
Photoflex Lawsuit
Amvona was sued by Photoflex in January of 2005 for alleged copyright violations. Amvona was accused of copying Photoflex products, misappropriating photos and marketing materials, and violating U.S. Trade law. These charges were dropped by Photoflex in 2006.
In December 2006 Amvona filed a complaint in Massachusetts Superior Court against Photoflex and President Sharon Reeves, seeking damages caused by Photoflex`s alleged unfair and deceptive business practices, including defamatory and misleading statements by Photoflex and Reeves concerning Amvona.
