World War II During World War II, Ammon was a very profitable oil businessman. He sold oil to the Allies, specifically France and the United Kingdom. It was only after his death that it was revealed that he was a double agent for Germany and was selling most of his oil to the Nazis. Death Ammon Kassab died in 1943 during an accidental oil explosion in the Gulf of Suez. He was believed at that time to be a a non-political oil business man. He owned a Nazi motorcycle but it was assumed to have been salvaged from a previous Nazi visit to the area. The motorcycle and Ammon's possessions were sent to his father and mother in the United States because he was unmarried and had no children or family in Africa.
