American Electronics, Inc. (Amelex) is a woman-owned small business headquartered in California, Maryland. The organization specializes in program management, information management, research and development, and hardware and software engineering services. Amelex primarily provides services to a variety of military and commercial customers including the United States Navy, Air Force, OSD, and NATO. History Founded in 1982, American Electronics, Inc. (Amelex) began as an engineering corporation providing services and support to the United States Navy. In November 1987, Amelex opened its office in Patuxent River, Maryland, providing engineering support services to the Identification Systems Division of the Naval Air Warfare Center. In January 2003, Amelex was purchased by employees Kim Oliver and Dawn Rich. Today, Amelex is headquartered in California, Maryland, less than ten miles from Patuxent River Naval Air Station. The firm's operations also include field offices in Crystal City, VA, Charleston, SC, and Hawaii. Its support services consist of several major business units, including engineering services, program management, and information technology. Amelex's clients currently include the United States Navy, Air Force, OSD and NATO.
