Allison Gilbert is an American non-fiction author and journalist. Career Gilbert began her journalism career in television, helping to launch NY1 News and MSNBC. She continued her career at WNBC-TV, where she won three New York Emmys, Most recently, she was a producer at CNN. She has worked in print journalism for magazines and newspapers including the New York Times. Currently she writes for the Huffington Post. Gilbert's book, Always Too Soon, led to the creation of Parentless Parents a nationwide network of parents who have lost their own mothers and fathers. As an author, Gilbert wrote Always Too Soon: Voices of Support for Those Who Have Lost Both Parents in 2006 and co-edited Covering Catastrophe: Broadcast Journalists Report September 11 in 2002. Gilbert is working on her next book, Parentless Parents due for publication in 2011. This book will include the results of a survey on the topic of being a parentless parent.
