Alison Tan is the wife of politician Ron Kim, a New York State Assemblyman. She works in the private financial sector, particularly in real estate. She is also currently running for New York City Council District 20. The district includes portions of Bayside, College Point, Flushing, Flushing Meadows Corona Park, Fresh Meadows and Whitestone in Queens. Life and Education Alison Tan came to the U.S. with her father Leshan Tan and mother Heng Xue from Yunnan, China when she was 7. She graduated from Cornell University in 2004 and moved to New York City. Tan lives in Flushing, Queens with her husband and two daughters. Career Alison Tan served as a Senior Associate at HVS from 2005 to 2007, and later at Cushman & Wakefield from 2007 to 2010. She is currently a managing director at Ackman-Ziff, a real estate capital advisory firm. Tan also serves as a member of Queens Community Board 7. Politics On May 8th, 2017, Alison Tan announced her intent to run for the 20th City Council District seat this election cycle. She will be running as a Democrat, facing incumbent Peter Koo in the primaries on September 12, 2017. Her campaign's main platform focuses on quality of life issues, such as: overcrowded schools, lack of library resources, elderly care, community over-development, traffic congestion and safety, air pollution, and sanitation.
