Al Salehi

Ali Salehi, better known as Trustee Al Salehi, is a special elected district member, political analyst, entrepreneur, computer technologist, radio host, and activist within the Iranian-American communities throughout the state of California. Al is currently a member of the board of trustees on the Buena Park Library District. Salehi was born to Iranian parents who immigrated to the United States in 1975. Al attended Laguna Beach High School in Laguna Beach, California. At Laguna Beach High School, Salehi was commended by former President Bill Clinton for serving as the elected student chairman of the Community Anti-Drug Coalition of America. Salehi is an activist among the Iranian populations in the state of California, notably in Orange County, California. Salehi helped finance his college career through profits from his technology company, Glancing Interactive Solutions, which specializes in the innovation of interactive technologies. As the CEO of Glancing, Salehi was awarded several U.S. patents in cellular communications similar to those used by Cisco, Microsoft and Apple Inc. He was also the former CTO for the N Brown Group (a Fortune 500 Company) under the direction of Lord David Alliance and Lord Jacob Rothschild, the commanders of the British Empire. Salehi is currently the Public Relations Manager for the Maryland Estates Development Company under the direction of Ebby Jebreel. Salehi practiced for many years as a therapist, specializing in alternate pain management, including hypnotherapy, under the supervision of Kamran Broukhim, M.D. at Integrated Healthcare, Westwood, California. He has also written for the Orange County Register several times. Salehi ran for United States Congress in the in 2014, and is currently lobbying another effort in his campaign for Buena Park City Council.
Early life
Born and raised in Southern California, Al Salehi represents a new generation of liberally minded, fiscally conservative non-partisan leaders. Locally grounded but internationally connected—a capitalist with a social conscience—Al is challenging his party to live up to its ideals of transparency and respect for individual freedom. Al’s parents became citizens in America after moving from Tehran in 1975 in order to pursue their graduate education and embark upon achieving the American dream as entrepreneurs. A first generation American, fluent in English, Persian and French, Al has traveled extensively worldwide and knows that America’s best foreign policy is one of political and economic engagement—not costly military intervention. While at Laguna Beach High School, Al was commended by President Bill Clinton for advising him as the elected student chairman of the Community Anti-Drug Coalition of America. Al subsequently took classes at UCI, where he spent his free time teaching autistic children to play chess in a program sponsored by the “Chess Masters.” He still remains active in UCI’s Anteater alumni activities. Al graduated with honors from UCLA with a degree in Psychology and pursued his advanced education at USC. He has served as a guest lecturer at UCLA and Assistant Coach of UCLA’s award-winning debate team. Al helped finance his college career through profits from his technology company, Glancing Interactive Solutions, which specializes in the innovation of interactive technologies. As CEO of Glancing, Al was awarded multiple U.S. patents in cellular communications similar to those used by Cisco, Microsoft and Apple. In 2013, Al was selected as Ambassador to the WOCCOC, helping serve the economic needs of his district and county. He currently serves as a Trustee to the Buena Park Library District, where he helps address the educational needs of thousands of constituents. Through this role, he has helped balance a multimillion-dollar budget for his District. Al also serves as a member of Renew West Anaheim, where he has coordinated public safety efforts with Mayor Tom Tate based on his experience and business ties to the local community. Previously, Al served as an advisor on state library policy to Assemblyman Chris Norby (R-CA). As an official who holds a publicly elected office, Al provides his political perspective frequently on the airwaves. He has served as a Fox News Contributor, appearing on various programs such as “Happening Now.” Furthermore, Al has hosted a weekly “emerging technology” show on international satellite radio’s KRSI, in addition to co-hosting a TV show on Tapesh called “The Doctor and the Devil’s Advocate." Looking ahead, Al is devoted to serving the residents of Buena Park and ensuring that his community’s voice is heard. As a fiscal-conservative who grew up in left-leaning Laguna Beach, Al has a keen ability to work in a diverse political environment while holding fast to the ideals of limited government and unlimited opportunity for all. A local hometown boy with a global perspective, Al Salehi brings practical experience from the business, education and media worlds to represent the people of Buena Park. He looks forward to serving his community and empowering his constituents for a better tomorrow!
Education
Salehi graduated with honors from UCLA with a degree in Psychology and pursued a degree in Educational Psychology at USC. He is currently the Assistant Speech and Debate Coach at UCLA, under the supervision of Director Tom Miller. "I love coaching the kids. They inspire and remind me that there is always hope for a better tomorrow," Salehi says.
Candidate for Buena Park City Council
In 2014, Salehi ran for City Council in the city of Buena Park with his motto, Al Salehi: "For a Better Buena Park." His advertisements appeared on the streets of Buena Park and also on various television networks such as CNN, MSNBC, TNT, and USA. He is currently on the Board of Trustees for the Buena Park Library District, where he ran for re-election the same year and won.
Glancing Interactive Solutions
Salehi is the CEO of Glancing Interactive Solutions, an Internet company that provides technology to allow for real-time, audio and visual interaction over the Internet without the use of any software by the end user. Glancing's corporate headquarters are in London, Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C..
Candidate for Congress
Salehi ran for United States Congress in the 45th Congressional District. Salehi sought to become the first Iranian-American elected official in office. He sought to replace congressman, John Campbell. Although losing this bid, Salehi received a historical record of votes as an Independent Candidate for Congress in the state.
