Airport Departure Process

Departure in aviation term is a process of leaving one airport for another using an aircraft.

Check In
On arrival at the airport, a passenger has to find the check-in counter and start the process of checking in. At the check-in counter, a passenger has to show travel and flight documents to the officer, weight their baggage and get baggage tag pasted to their bags, get a boarding pass and then proceed to Custom<nowiki/>s & immigration.
Customs and Immigration
After passengers get checked in they should proceed to the customs if necessary. If they have to declare any items and if they have any dutiable items they need custom clearance. If not, they should proceed to the immigration counter. Immigration is the authority of the state having the final right to allow or deny the passenger to board the flight. If the immigration officer finds any doubt or feel the passenger, document, purpose of travel or intention of the passenger is suspicious; the passenger is denied to board the flight.
Security Check
After Immigration, Passenger has to move to security check and screening. This might be the state police or other security agencies appointed by the airport authority. During the security check, one's body might be thoroughly checked and one has to pass through X-ray gates.
Boarding
After all the formalities, passengers wait for the boarding process in the departure hall. When boarding starts, announcements are made flight details are displayed and boarding gates are unlocked. Passengers show their boarding cards to the boarding staffs and enroll themselves for boarding the flight. Once clear of the boarding gate, passengers get onboard the aircraft.
