Ahsan Hameed is professor of Dermatology and Head of Department at Shifa College of Medicine and a "visiting instructor" at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine and Oral Pathology. His areas of interest are research in sexually transmitted diseases, laser treatments, cosmetic procedures, UV applications, skin surgeries, and treatment of a range of skin diseases. Career Hameed was a member of the team that identified a new strain of the Leishmania parasite which has been registered in GenBank as Leishmania sp. shifai. Hameed received the Best Paper Award at a number of dermatology seminars and is an editorial board member of the Journal of Pakistan Association of Dermatologists.
