Abhishek Verma

Abhishek Verma was born on 23 February 1968 in a family known for their contribution in Indian Politics for half a century. Abhishek’s late father Shrikant Verma, was a journalist by profession before Smt. Indira Gandhi inducted him into Congress Party and appointed him as member of India's Parliament in 1976.In early 80’s when Gandhi returned as Prime Minister, Mr. Shrikant Verma became the official spokesman and later got the responsibilities as General Secretary of the Congress Party. Holding daily briefings for journalists, brainstorming party policies and helping the party evolve was part of Mr. Verma’s challenging job. Apart from work he manages to found time for writing several books novels, many of which got translated into other foreign languages. In May, 1986, elder Verma died battling cancer at the Sloane Kettering Hospital in New York. For 24 years Shrikant Verma's foster mother, Minimata, was a Member of Parliament, beginning 1950, until she died in a aircrash. Abhishek Verma's mother, Smt. Veena Verma, also served Indian politics as a member of Congress Party for 14 years.
Early life
Abhishek’s strategic focus on the defense and telecom business inspired him to establish Atlas Group of Companies, which is into contracting of global defense and telecom powerhouse. The group delivers services in more than 70 countries and doing good in terms of revenue. Abhishek was arrested by CBI in July 2006 as a suspect in Navy war room leak case. Justice S. Muralidhar, granted bail to Abhishek to furnish a personal bond of Rs.1 million and two sureties of same amount.
