2026 FIFA World Cup bids

The 2026 FIFA World Cup bidding process has not yet begun. Registration for the bidding process will probably occur sometime after 2014 or 2018. Members of UEFA and the AFC are ineligible from bidding under current FIFA rules, as countries that are members of the same confederation as either of the last two tournament hosts are ineligible. Russia of the UEFA will host in 2018, and Qatar will host in 2022. If this policy continues, the United States is the only country from the 2018 and 2022 bidding process eligible to bid for 2026, as all other nations which participated in that bidding process are either from UEFA or AFC.
* Colombia
On March 17, 2010, in a press conference, CONCACAF president Jack Warner said he encouraged Colombia apply to host the FIFA World Cup in 2026.
*United States
Shocked by the selection of Qatar to host the 2022 World Cup, the US is contemplating bidding for 2026.
* Australia
Australia has expressed interest in bidding for 2026. With South Africa hosting 2010, Oceania is the only continent not to host the games. However, Australia left the OFC for the AFC prior to the 2010 World Cup. Thus, unless the rules are changed regarding the bidding process, Australia would be ineligible to bid until 2034.
* China
China's Football Association launched a feasibility study in July 2010 to see if a bid for 2026 would be possible. China's soccer chief Wei Di had expressed his hopes that an Asian country would not win the 2022 bid, as that would eliminate China from a possible 2026 bid under current FIFA rules.
* India
In March, 2010, India's national coach Bob Houghton suggested that India should make a bid to host the cup in 2026. As India is a member of the AFC, under current FIFA rules, India would be ineligible to bid in 2026, as AFC member Qatar is hosting in 2022.
* England
In December, 2010, Blackburn Rovers manager Sam Allardyce said England would have to pull out all the stops to secure the cup in 2026. England would be ineligible to bid in 2026 under current FIFA rules, as UEFA member Russia is hosting in 2018.
