123JUNK is the third-largest junk removal company in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. The company was founded in 2008 by Collin Wheeler at the age of 23. Background The company, based in Chantilly, Virginia, has seven trucks and 24 employees. They serve over 4,000 customers annually and maintain partnerships with Habitat for Humanity, Goodwill and Pender ReGift Thrift. Philanthropy 123JUNK donates or recycles roughly half the items it collects. Wheeler's company determines which pieces of "junk" are in good condition and takes them to local charities. Reciprocally, customers are provided with receipts so they can claim tax deductions. More recently, 123 Junk has formed a philanthropic recycling operation on a local landfill, minimizing waste and keeping with the environmental trend in a low-cost, low-effort manner. |
