Jay McConnell

John Hedley Desmond Lucy 'Jay' McConnell (b. June 08, 1979, d. March 21, 2006) was a surf guide and philantropist. He died in Tenerife, Spain, after falling off a 400 mt. cliff in the Los Gigantes region of the Island.

Biography
Born in Dublin, Ireland, Jay was the son of Hedley McConnell and Siobhan Marrinan. Brother of Niamh, Drew (bass guitarist with Babyshambles), and Tristan McConnell.
In 1994 he was unanimously elected as President of the one and only LEO Club (Lions International) in the Canary Islands. In 2001 he was responsible along with Amy Jewel for reviving defunct government waste recycling programme to help revitalize the economy of Bahia de Caraquez, Ecuador. In 2001 he founded the Morro Negrito School Fund to help local school children in Panama. Most recently, in 2004 he established Eco-Trek Canarias, the only completely eco-friendly adventure tourism operation available in the Canary Islands.
