Zest ST

Zest ST is a Kent based independent full service marketing and advertising agency, founded in 1981. The company represents popular consumer brands, leading manufacturing companies.

Initially trading from Earl Street, Maidstone, Kent, the company won representation for TNT, Alcoa, Leeds Castle, Trico, Bel, Shell, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Kent and Medway Safety Camera Partnership, Health Protection Agency, Bang and Olufsen Kent Tourism Alliance, Kent County Council, e-skills UK and Investors in People among others.

In 1998 Zest ST re-located to new premises in Lords Wood near Chatham, Kent in the Oaks Business Park, with a staff of 30 including directors Simon Merrick, Terry Hewett and Alan Young. Zest ST recently won Medway Business of the Year in December 2008.

Clients

The company won representation for Kent County Council’s three year road safety campaign in 2005. In 2007 Zest ST was successful with its campaign for the Kent Tourism Alliance to increase tourism to Kent. Other notable work includes a successful campaign to educate business driving in the county with its Driving Business Safely campaign with the Kent & Medway Safety Camera Partnership.

Zest ST has a number of long term relationships with clients including Altera in the UK. Simon Merrick has been a consultant to Altera in the late 1980s and worked extensively on its UK, Scandinavian and European public relations and marketingactivities. Zest ST has a raft of experience within the electronic and semiconductor industries and has specialized in these areas before expanding its portfolio following the collapse of the market in the early 2000’s.

Today

Zest ST is now best known for its award winning local authority work in road safety. The company has a long running relationship with many of its clients and works in all aspects of advertising, marketing and public relations, including digital PR.

Zest chairman, Len Scannell, resigned from the company in 2005 after a management buyout by present directors, Terry Hewett and Simon Merrick. The company is now a limited company.

Zest St has an annual turnover of over £4,000,000, and a full time staff of 30, including managing director Terry Hewett, director Simon Merrick and director Alan Young.

The agency launched its new digital division, So Sharp PR in Winter 2008/09, with an team dedicated to promoting digital clients and providing online PR campaigns for others.
