Yling Tan

Yling Tan Miller1 (born October, 1988 in Newport Beach, California) is a classical pianist currently studying piano performance at the University of Southern California (USC), Thornton School of Music. Prior to attending USC she graduated from Inglemoor High School2 in Kenmore, Washington with an International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma. While at Inglemoor High School she published an essay on Chopin titled, “Frederic Chopin: Revolutionary composer or Disguised Traditionalist?3” The essay was submitted to IB and awarded a score of 7 which was the highest possible.

Yling Tan Miller entered and won numerous classical piano competitions:

    • In addition Yling Tan Miller was also principal cellist11Standing in front row first cello (left) in the 2006 Inglemoor High School orchestra that won first place at the All American Music Festival1213 orchestra completion in Orlando, Florida and she won first place at the same event for solo piano.

    Yling Tan Miller’s performance of Chopin’s Ballad no. 1, Op 23 at the Washington State piano competition in 2006 has drawn over 8,400 views on YouTube.com14 as of November 12, 2007.
