Louis Colaiannia
Louis Colaiannia (born January 28, 1955) is an Italian-American classical pianist, songwriter, arranger and performer.
Biography
Colaiannia was born in Denver, Colorado son of Louis and Rose Colaiannia
He studied piano first with Delome Kerstner in Denver, then with a pianist from the Denver Symphony Orchestra, Kathleen Joiner, then finally with the head of piano from University of Denver, Lamont School of Music, Bill Sible.
Colaiannia graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School, in Denver, Colorado in 1973. He then completed his undergraduate and graduate studies at the University of Colorado at Denver, followed by getting his doctorate from University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver.
Colaiannia has performed at the Festival Italiano concert in 2015, 2014 and 2013. He has also performed at the Keystone Wine and Jazz Festival, the Woodland Park Jazz Festival and the Copper Mountain Jazz Festival.
In 2013, Colaiannia's released, The Next Stage. Zone Music Reporter Awards nominated The Next Stage album, for Best Chill/Groove Album 2013 by radio broadcasters from around the world.
In 2015, Colaiannia performed at Carnegie Hall at the Enlightened Piano Radio awards ceremony and concert.
Colaiannia's song Obsession is a Jazz AC single, sultry track with Latin rhythms accentuated by drums and guitar. The song was the Most Added in the smooth AC category for all the major charts to include Billboard, Groove Jazz Music Chart, Radio Wave Internet airplay chart, as well as on the Smooth Jazz Network.
Colaiannia hosts the radio show Tranquil Moments on KYGT (102.7 FM) outside of Denver, Colorado on Sundays.
Colaiannia, wrote a poignant song for the families of the victims of the movie theater mass shooting in Aurora, Colorado. He arranged The New Song after Jessica Allen, a recent Arvada High School graduate contacted him AbOUT the project as a possible way to help the families involved with the tragedy.
In December 1, 2011 Colaiannia released Keys of Christmas, a piano, instrumental and vocal new age album with 9 original and traditional holiday songs. Keys of Christmas was selected by New Age Music World as one of the top 12 holiday albums.
In 2016, Colaiannia’s released, Four Days In My Life. As with his previous album, Louis chose to record at the iconic Imaginary Road Studio of GRAMMY winning producer and Windham Hill Records founder Will Ackerman.
Awards and nominations
Colaiannia holds a Mozart Award for his contributions to music in 2012.
Colaiannia is recipient of The Primo Award for Entertainer of the Year in 2011 and 2012.
Colaiannia is a member of the Colorado's Italian American Hall of Fame, Class of 2012.
