Wraith of the Ropes
Wraith of the Ropes are a Horror Metal band from Hamilton/Cincinnati, Ohio in the US. W.O.T.R. formed in late 2001. When they first began they wrote all instrumental "Horror Music" akin to Horror film soundtracks of the 1970's and early-1980's. A couple years into the band's existence they began adding vocals to their songs that are a creepy mixture of old-school distorted Industrial Music and Black Metal. An even more drastic evolution in their sound was the inclusion of elements of Death/Doom Metal and Funeral Doom music. By 2004 they had developed their own unique sound that had a very depressive and melancholic feeling to it but also possessed an atmosphere of brooding Horror.
Their first CD, Ada, was completed in 2005 and released on Halloween of that year by the underground Israeli metal label Total Rust Music. W.O.T.R. also had a self-released demo/EP on that same exact day called The Red Door which included covers of songs by Black Sabbath and The Cure as well as one original song and covers of the theme songs for The Horror Movies Suspiria and Halloween.
In 2006 the band signed a new record deal with the Finnish metal label Firebox Records. W.O.T.R. are currently recording their second full length CD which will be called Demonic Influence. This CD is scheduled for released in early 2008 on Firebox.
