Wonderfall is a four piece alternative rock/pop band based in Atlanta, GA. They have been compared to such bands as Barenaked Ladies, The Gin Blossoms, Crowded House and Elvis Costello and The Attractions for their upbeat, lyrical and melodic songwriting style and simple yet rich arrangements.

Band History

Wonderfall was formed in Austin, TX in 1997 by founding members Joe Bregande, brother Dave Bregande and John "Fletch" Fletcher. Then called elephant, they recorded and released 2000s Monday Morning, Start Again after relocating to Atlanta, GA in the Winter of 1999.

Following The Release and during the recording of a follow up CD, New York based Elefant (band) purchased the rights to the name and they promptly rebranded as wondrefall. Mixed by Russ Fowler, (whose credits include hits by John Mayer and Shawn Mullins amongst many others) 2004's 8 song, self-titled wonderfall saw extensive radio play for the singles "Not the First" and "One Last Dance", with a third single "At The Playground" making its way in Fall 2007. They've also been featured on TM Century's Hit Disk along with Billy Corgan, Switchfoot, Train, Dave Matthews Band, Van Morrison and Rob Thomas, and landed in the Muzak system after appearing on National Clothing Chain Old Navy's in store CD during the summer shopping season.

2005 saw the release of "Seven Songs Of Christmas", a collection of all original Christmas music penned by brothers Joe and Dave Bregande. It continues to gain notoriety with each Christmas season, and the timelessness of the songs may one day render them modern seasonal classics.

Currently writing new material, wonderfall expects to begin recording a fourth full length CD by the end of 2007.

Band Members

Joe Bregande, lead guitarist, vocalist and songwriter started wonderfall in Austin, TX with bassist John "Fletch" Fletcher. Joe had recently parted ways with Boston's The Push Stars after seeing that band from its formation to a record deal with Capitol Records. Wanting to start fresh, he invited Fletch from Kansas City to join him in a new, unnamed and completely spontaneous MusicAL venture. Fletch and Joe had enjoyed success in the early '90's as part of the popular Minneapolis based quartet Sea of Words, formed in South Bend, IN during the filming of Rudy on the University of Notre Dame Campus, on whose set band members Joe, Fletch and guitarist Marc Conklin worked. Sea of Words disbanded after Joe was lured to Boston by songwriter Chris Trapper a bassist Dan McLoughlin to form The Push Stars in Woodstock, NY.

Dave Bregande had recently graduated from Notre Dame (also the alma mater of Fletch and Ted Leo of Ted Leo and the Pharmacists) and joined Joe and Fletch in Austin for fun and a chance to start a career in design and illustration. Soon he began sitting in on rehearsals, and introducing songs he had written while learning the guitar in college. Less than a year later, elephant made its debut at an Austin Battle of the Bands with drummer Tricia Daniel. After recording a three song demo with Trish, elephant employed drummer Leo Salas to record a full length CD, later titled "Monday Morning, Start Again".

Elephant was joined by drummer Shawn Bryan after relocating to Atlanta. Shawn played through the release of Monday Morning, Start Again and was later replaced by drummer Winton Bowman, who drummed on "wonderfall" and saw them through a name change, but not the record release, where wonderfall was joined by drummer Craig Kaufmann from 1990s Atlanta band Ode to Abbey (featuring D.C. area up and coming singer/songwriter Shane Hines) and guitarist Brett Hartley formerly of Sugarland.

Drummer Reese Jones was added to the lineup in time to promote the single Not The First around the Southeast and at the Atlantis Music Conference. Reese also played in support of the Seven Songs of Christmas CD but departed soon thereafter.

Currently, drummer Patrick Winchester of the now defunct South African band Alter State has joined the fold for gigging and recording of new material.
