What An I
"What An I!" (Korean: 나란!, Old Korean: 나로구나!, Konglish: 왓어나!) is an expression used by highly educated people to brag about something that they've done.
For example, Brian is asking Rebekah about the final exam, "how was the exam?" Rebekah says "it was very good as usual. What an I!"
There is another expression "What A You!" for the similar situation.
For instance, when Joel is saying that he messed up on something, Joshua can say, "choop. what a you! That is so you."
The last one is to use one's name with "what a(an)" expression.
For example, Joel and Ssun are supposed to meet Mary at noon, but she is late as usual. Joel and Ssun can say, "What a Mary!"
When you use this, you need to be aware of placing "an" instead of "a" in front of the names of vowel sounds at the first letter.
For example, Mary and Esther are talking. When Esther is saying that she knows everything about her, Mary can say, "What an Esther!"
The expression "what a(an)" is commonly used when showing that you are amazed at something.
On the other hands, these new expressions are surely sensational in Seattle now.
These unusual ungrammatical expressions have began to be used by a group of people in a peaceful city, Bothell, located in Washington State.
When the originator, Hyunchan Shin, was getting to know about the expression "what a(an)," he misused it with "I" and "you". This one little mistake changed everything about American English grammar. It made many people break the fixed idea of the expression "what a(an)", so people in Seattle have been using the expressions ever since, although they know these are not right expressions grammatically.
