Weekend swap

Weekend Swap is a web application for users to borrow and lend outdoor gear with one another. The beta version of the site was launched in October of 2012 in San Francisco, although an initial alpha version of the site was released in 2010 at Brown Universtiy. Common items posted on the site include skis, camping equipment, and mountain bikes. It has been considered to be one of the leading members of the movement towards collaborative consumption. Many of the sites critics seem to believe that it will fail as a result of its proclivity towards the rural economy, polarizing many urban users. There has been great speculation as to when the community will expand beyond just San Francisco.
