Warrantywise (company)

Warrantywise is a company based in Blackburn, England, that provides extended vehicle warranties. The company was founded in 2000 by Andrew and Andrea Whittaker. It offers protection plans for cars, vans, and electric vehicles, covering the cost of unexpected repairs.

History

Warrantywise was founded in 2000 by Andrew and Andrea Whittaker in Lancashire. Initially, the company offered vehicle warranty services and later expanded to include high-end and performance cars sold by dealerships.

In 2004, the company became a Lloyd’s Coverholder, enabling it to underwrite its insurance products. Automotive journalist Quentin Willson joined Warrantywise in 2007 as a brand ambassador and helped clarify the company’s terms and conditions and resolve disputes.

In 2008, Lawrence Whittaker, the founder’s son, became CEO, allowing Andrew Whittaker to focus on classic cars. In 2015, Warrantywise started publishing a reliability index based on internal claims data, measuring vehicle reliability by breakdown frequency, age, mileage, and average repair time. In the same year, the company partnered with Auto Express to co-host the Auto Express New Car Awards.

Services

Warrantywise offers extended warranty plans for cars, electric vehicles, vans, motorhomes, and fleets. These plans cover mechanical and electrical issues, helping customers manage repair costs. The company provides services directly to consumers and works with over 3,000 UK car dealerships.

The company offers plans for vehicles no longer covered by the manufacturer’s warranty and arranges repairs at a VAT-registered garage of their choice. Warrantywise also offers vehicle inspections for individuals purchasing used cars.

In the business-to-business sector, the company supplies warranty services to dealerships and finance companies, offering the warranties to their customers.
