W. Randall Jones

W. Randall Jones is an author, publisher and media executive who is best known for writing The Richest Man in Town-The Twelve Commandments of Wealth1 from Hachette Book Group USA’s Business Plus imprint in 2009. According to Business Week, Jones researched and interviewed the richest self-made man or woman in 100 American towns across the nation to paint the most geographic and representative portrait of self-made wealth in modern America. Jones is the founder of Worth (magazine), the author of The Greatest Stock Picks of All Time 2 published by Random House's Crown Business division in 2004 and was the youngest publisher of a major magazine when he became publisher of Esquire at 29 years of age according to CNN.

Jones currently serves as Chairman and CEO of American Idea Lab, a media ideation and investment firm. He sits on the boards of Wilmington Trust New York 3, Trinity Capital Services 4, Yureekah Technologies 5 and Zemblee . Jones has served on the board The National Council for Economic Education 6 and the Committee to Encourage Corporate Philanthropy 7. The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of America honored him as “Philanthropist of the Year.”

Educational Background

A graduate of the University of Georgia Henry W. Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication in 1977, Jones received the school’s John E. Drewry Award as the outstanding alumnus of the year and in 2002, he was awarded the Alumni Merit Award—the highest honor awarded to alumni of The University of Georgia.
