Vivek Ranjit

VIvek Ranjit (born 19 June 1987) is an Indian film scriptwriter, subtitler and television presenter. His first screenwriting venture, which he wrote along with Joseph Kurian and the film's director Vinay Govind, Kili Poyi debuted on 1 March 2013. The film opened to mixed response from the critics, though found major fanfare among the youth. Kili Poyi is also one of the few stoner films produced in the country. Parallelly he also began hosting TV shows for Yes Indiavision, a Malayalam TV Channel in 2012, and later also hosted shows for the channel TV New. Presently, he is hosting a film based show called 'Filmscape' for Kappa TV. He also works as one of the busiest subtitlers in Malayalam Cinema, writing English subtitles for Malayalam movies for their release outside Kerala and India and has subtitled over 35 Malayalam films.

Early life and education

Vivek was born in Kollam, and later became a resident of Ernakulam city. He did his schooling from Toc-H Public School, and graduated in Visual Communication from Loyola College, Chennai in 2008. He also completed a one-year course in screenwriting at the prestigious Film and Television Institute of India, Pune in 2011. He began his stint with feature films as an assistant cinematographer under cinematographer Alagappan for the Sathyan Anthikkad - Mohanlal film Innathe Chinthavishayam (2008). He went on to become an assistant director to Mamas K Chandran in the film Paappi Appacha (2010) before joining FTII. After finishing the course from FTII, he joined director VK Prakash as an assistant director in the film Trivandrum Lodge (2012) and also subtitled VK Prakash's 2011 film Beautiful. After that he joined with his friends Joseph Kurian and Vinay Govind to write the story, screenplay, dialogues for the stoner film Kili Poyi (2013) and also went on to subtitle many more films.
