Biography
Gennadiy Butkevych was born in Dnipropetrovsk on 27 May 1958.
He graduated from the Dnipropetrovsk Civil Engineering Institute (1980) and Oles Honchar Dnipropetrovsk National University.
In Soviet times, he began his career in militia, worked in the organised crime control department.
Business
In 1990s, he went into business.
In 1993, he became a co-owner of Agrotechbusiness trading company. He joined the company after ex-banker, mayor of Dneprodzerzhinsk Yaroslav Korchevskiy left it.
In 1995-1997, he headed the security service of Yuliya Tymoshenko’s UESU (United Energy Systems of Ukraine). 1
In 1998, Gennadiy Butkevich along with his partners registered the “ATB” corporation (abbreviation for Agrotechbusiness) Up to the date, Gennadiy Butkevych, Yevhen Yermak and Viktor Karachun are equal-share ATB co-owners.
“ATB” corporation carries out its activities in the following spheres of business: assets management, retail, foodstuff production and sale, provision of services in the sphere of sports and leisure. The company employs more than 25 thousand persons. The corporation owns one of the largest logistics hubs in Ukraine with goods turnover of over 70 thousand tonnes per month.
ATB chain of discount stores with share of 3.87% ranked second among TOP-5 retail chains of Ukraine, according to data of GT Partners Ukraine consultancy for 2010. In 2010, ATB chain ranked first on number of POS, in line with the retail chains rating prepared by GT Partners Ukraine. Company “ATB-market” hit the top-500 of leading companies of the Central and Eastern Europe on total revenue for 2009, prepared by Deloitte. Turnover of ATB retail chain for 2010 exceeded UAH 12.96 billion (incl. VAT), for 2011 — UAH 18.055 billion, for 2012 — about UAH 26 billion, for 2015 – turnover amounted to UAH 46.670 billion (incl. VAT).

Hobby
In 1998, he established the amateur tennis tournament Dnepr Open that had been carried out at tennis courts of Voskhod sports club for 10 years and was timed to Butkevych’s birthday.
Being a votary of hunting, he leases out hunting lands (8,000 ha in area) in Ivanovsk district of Kyiv region.

Graduated from Dnipropetrovsk National University in 1980 — Faculty of mechanics and mathematics. Housewife.

Real estate abroad
According to media sources, Butkevych acquired two apartments by the sea near Miami, in city of Boca Raton, in 2013. Information about apartments is publicly available in the US real estate database, address Marbella, 250 S Ocean Blvd., Apt. G-II. Moreover, the entrepreneur owns Howard Johnson Hotel in Miami at 8701 Collins Avenue, A1A and 87th Street, Miami Beach, Florida, 33154 USA.
Family dispute
Elder daughter Anna was married to entrepreneur Serhiy Rybalka — founder of S.Group (company develops trademarks Kozatski Rozvagy, Semki, Macho, RED, FunNut, KartoFun, cellulose and paper direction — Fantasy, Glamour) during the period from 2006 to 2013. In March 2013, the spouses broke up, and the divorce proceedings ended in December of the same year with full division of property.
